HOW YOU CAN USE LEMONS TO INCREASE ENERGY LEVELS

I think that we could all use a bit more energy in our lives.  Are you always looking for ways to increase your energy levels?  Here are a few ways that you can boost your energy using lemons.

Lemons are low in sugar and the citric acid in lemons and limes can help keep your blood sugar levels stable when you eat a meal. 

For sustained energy, its important to keep your blood sugar levels stable.  If your blood sugar is going up and down, it can cause inflammation and contribute to hormone imbalances.  It can also cause you to eat more food or have food cravings. 

The combination of Vitamin C and citrus bioflavonoids in lemons and limes can improve oxygenation of your cells which is extremely powerful for improving your energy levels.  Your hands, feet and brain have lots of capillaries which will benefit from this increased blood flow .

The vitamin C and citrus bioflavonoids in lemons and limes may also protect from cardiovascular diseases by improving healthy cholesterol and decreasing accumulation of plaque in the arteries.

Lemon juice can help your digestion in a number of ways.  Drinking lemon water on a regular basis actually helps to flush out the liver and gallbladder and improving your bile production.  Bile is what your body uses to digest fats.

Lemon juice contains a naturally occurring acid called citric acid and this can start to break down your food before you consume it and also help with production of stomach acid.  Think about squeezing some lemon or lime juice onto your food before eating it.  You will have saved energy it would take to digest a meal by doing this. 

Drinking lemon juice in a glass of warm water first thing in the morning can hydrate you and wake up your digestion ready for food to be consumed.  This will provide vitamins, minerals and flush out the liver, kidneys, bladder, help to move your bladder and balance pH levels in your body.  You could also drink some lemon juice in water about 10 minutes before you eat a meal. 

You could also make a lemon drink by mixing lemon juice, ginger, turmeric and cinnamon together in a glass of water.

Ingredients

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp organic powdered ginger

Juice of 1 1/2 fresh lemon

Dash cayenne

480ml filtered water

1/2 tsp raw honey

Blend all the ingredients together and drink.

Young Living lemon Essential oil can be ingested in a drink or it can be applied topically or diffused to get all the benefits of lemons. 

All the more reason to start adding more lemons and limes to your daily routine.  Be careful though of the acid on your teeth and drink through a straw!
