WHY IS THERE MORE FOOD ALLERGIES IN THE 20TH CENTURY THAN BEFORE?
In the 1900’s people didn’t seem to be worried about being gluten free or cutting out dairy from their diet.
It seems to be normal in modern day life to have some kind of allergy to something. How many people, especially children have an allergy today and are born with an allergy?
Why can this be happening now in the 20th Century than in the 1900’s?
THEY ATE THEIR FOOD IN SEASONS
In early 1900, food preservatives were not used and there was less processed food around.
There was no fast food like McDonalds and food was cooked from scratch using the foods in season bought from markets and farms.
Their food was more nutrient dense because the soils back then contained a lot more minerals than today.
Eating out was a luxury and a treat and wasn’t done regularly. We all know about bone broths and how nutritious they can be and these were regularly made from the carcus after cooking the chicken for Sunday Dinner.
THEY DIDN’T DO DIETS
They didn’t do yo-yo dieting which can mess with your metabolism and make losing weight much more difficult when your body becomes confused.
There didn’t seem to be any calorie counting or weighing of food. They had a healthy metabolism and ate what they craved and when they were hungry.
THERE WAS NO GMO FOOD OR FOOD ADDITIVES
Food was natural and real with no additives, antibiotics, and hormones.
THEY DIDN’T VISIT THE DOCTOR FOR EVERY AILMENT
There are lots of old remedies such as pickling onions in honey and making pultices with onion for a sore throat. These were used for minor ailments and they didn’t go to the doctor straightaway for an antibiotic.
I do use the onion wrapped around my throat for a sore throat and it works.
Eating garlic for a cold as it’s a natural antibiotic.
Steaming and breathing in hot water mixed with eucalyptus oil for a stuffy nose and drinking lemon, ginger and honey for a cold works wonders.
THEY SPENT LOTS OF TIME OUTSIDE
They spent more time outside and didn’t spend all day watching TV or playing with Xbox or playing games on an ipad. They entertained themselves and didn’t mind playing with dirt.
THERE WAS NO ANTI BACTERIAL CLEANERS
I don’t believe in using anti bacterial cleaners or hand washes. Our micro biomes, our gut garden is fully equipped to deal with germs and bacteria.
Anti bacterial products can alter your skin Ph and make you more resistant to germs and bacteria and your immune system will not be fully equipped to handle them which makes you more prone to getting sick.
HOW CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR HEALTH TODAY?
This is another reason why our gut garden is so poor today because we are eating too much processed food, food additives and foods out of a packet and convenience foods.
Eat more one ingredients foods and less food out of a packet and you will be doing your body a favour and your health. You will get sick a lot less because your immune system will be stronger.
There is a bit of a disadvantage in modern day life now than there was in the 1900 which means that we are being exposed to more and more toxins and our immune systems are having a harder time catching up and keeping strong.
It is more important than ever to eat for good health because of these modern day toxins that are everywhere.
